Location: San Jose State University Art & Design Building, Gale Antokal Gallery

A collection of 16 artworks (drawings, paintings, poems, & conceptual sculpture) composed from the over-arching experience
of a survivor of sexual assault. Serving as a diary to my experiences, "Body Survived" demonstrates the obstacles and uncertainty that follow after a deeply traumatic experience. From disruption of identity, facing physiological trauma, to impeding judgment from the public, and maintaining composure in court, "Body Survived" tells a visual story of the pain inflicted by not only my abuser, but others around me, and even myself.
A Debut Solo Exhibition
by Terynn McNairnie

This project meant a lot to me in terms of telling those around me what I had been through without experiencing every detail over agin. Just as I was asked to provide in the courtroom, I wanted visual and visceral proof of my experiences.
